According to a source close to the team, Sea Dogs right-handed starter William Cuevas has been promoted from the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs to the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox.

Cuevas has been one of the Sea Dogs most reliable starters this year, owning a 8-5 record to go with a 3.40 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 91 strikeouts in 95 1/3 innings. His last start for Portland came on Thursday when he pitched two innings while allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out three.

The 24-year old Venezuelan native got the starting nod in the 2015 Eastern League All-Star Classic that took place at Hadlock Field, pitching one perfect inning for the Eastern Division All-Stars.

In his Minor League career, Cuevas has posted a 35-28 record with a 3.59 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 463 strikeouts while allowing only 31 home runs in 556 1/3 innings.

Cuevas was signed by the Boston Red Sox as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He was voted Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Month in July 2012 and was also named a NY-Penn League All-Star that same year.
